Bigstar recently teamed up with Alex Gibney and Blair Foster at Jigsaw Productions to create graphics for their new documentary which examines New York City's economically stratified society. The film will air on Nov. 12th on PBS as a part of their Independent Lens series and is available for free on Hulu as of today. To watch the film, click here.
FixFood and Consumer's Union have launched their Meat Without Drugs campaign to address the rampant misuse of antibiotics by factory farms. In coordination with the launch, Kenner Films has released a short video depicting how the overuse of antibiotics is making consumers vulnerable to "superbugs." BigStar partnered with Left/Right on the new History Channel show "United Stats of America" which premiered May 8th and has been garnering excellent reviews. Hosted by identical twins and stand-up comedians, Randy and Jason Sklar, the series relates the stories behind interesting and surprising statistics in American history. Future episodes reveal stats on how much money we make and what we spend it on; how long we will live; what we do with our free time and much more.
Feature documentary "Knuckleball!" premieres April 21st at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Acclaimed documentarians Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg deconstruct the unpredictable and erratic pitching style known as the knuckleball in this highly entertaining and enlightening sports doc. Shot over five years, Susan Froemke's documentary captures the challenges of bringing visionary director Robert Lepage's electrifying production of Richard Wagner's four-part Ring Cycle to life at the Metropolitan Opera. NOMINATION ... For the second consecutive year BigStar has been nominated for the Cinema Eye Honors, which recognizes exemplary work in the world of nonfiction film. The nomination comes for BigStar's graphic effects work on Charles Ferguson's Inside Job, a documentary about the global economic collapse of 2008. The 2011 Cinema Eye Honors ceremony will be held January 18 at New York City's Museum of the Moving Image.
